"Legion of Horribles" is an ongoing photographic project. The name is a homage to the most recognized and acclaimed except from Cormac McCarthy's novel "Blood Meridian". The title and it's namesake present the viewer with the themes of the project; Legion of Horribles uses flash and high speed photography to freeze the blurry, dark, and gaudy displays of violence, camaraderie, and manhood that to many are the main draw of contact sports. My aim is to question and venerate the complex relationship between masculinity and violence while emphasizing the contact and community that spawns a very unique, intense type of love. These are not only my subjects, but my brothers and mat mates, and we are all proud patrons of Freedom Fighters Academy, Miami Florida.
